Elastic People was founded in 2002 by Carlos Pérez, a Film Director and Graphic Designer. And when you see the world through the eyes of a designer, the boundaries dissolve. You go wherever our design instincts take you. So it's not surprising that, while traditional marketing services firms have been defined by their boundaries-design firm, multicultural agency, image consultancy, event marketing, digital production company, public relations firm, social media, Elastic People moved seamlessly between all these functions, fueled by a progressive multidisciplinary mindset.
We’re perhaps best known for working with a very unique kind of brand: the artist, some of whom are the most influential musical icons of our time. But it’s important to note that we have also worked very closely with global brands whose icons seek to impact cultures around the world. A key to our success is that Design is our core. From our studio in the heart of Miami's Design District, the brands we develop, the content we produce, the film and video we create, the experiences we instigate all begin with a design idea. An idea strong enough to give shape and form, color and texture, movement and sound to the emotions that speak across all divides of culture and language.

As a multi-disciplinary Creative Director, Carlos weaves Film, Branding and Design into integrated campaigns for clients including Sony Music, Universal Music, Nike, Reebok, Pepsi, ABC Networks and Deutsche Bank. A unique sensibility for Latin cultures in the US forms the foundation of Carlos's vision. Born in San Juan and raised in Miami, Carlos began his professional career in Los Angeles and has since traveled extensively around the world. In Los Angeles, he spent three years at The Designory, working for brands like Mercedes-Benz before being named Creative Director of the Omnicom-owned firm's Miami office, Pinkhaus. At The Designory/Pinkhaus, Carlos guided the brand images of Bacardi, Mercedes-Benz, Island Outpost and the ABC Network, to name a few.
Named One of the Top 100 Most Influential Latinos in the U.S. by Hispanic Business, Director / Designer Carlos Pérez has spent the past 15 years transforming brands. “Brands get conservative," observes Carlos. "My role is to remind clients that there's nothing more dangerous than playing it safe."
Carlos founded Elastic People in 2002. His Miami-based multi-disciplinary studio is a reflection of his affinity towards culture, branding, film and technology. With the goal of delivering content that commands attention with powerful and impactful messages, Carlos has attracted clients from diverse industries who all sought out his creative vision, brand integration and bilingual business savvy.
Elastic People has been integral to the marketing success of Latin Music industry giants Sony Music Latin, Universal Music Latin Entertainment and Warner Music. As Creative Director / Image Consultant, Carlos has collaborated closely with 12 of the Top 25 Latin Artists on Billboard Magazine's Best of the Decade Chart. The music videos and documentaries he's directed for Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee and Tempo have earned his growing reputation 3 MTV Video Music Award and 3 Latin Grammy Nominations.
His work transforming the images of some of Latin music's biggest icons has freed Carlos to create and influence new interpretations for the consumer market. In this way, he manages to incorporate his understanding of Latin culture to his captivating imagery. The total online views for music videos he's directed exceeds 7 billion. Just this year, Carlos directed Luis Fonsi’s feat. Daddy Yankee “Despacito” music video, currently the most viewed music video in YouTube’s history.
Alongside his international creative team, he's directed the video content and graphic identity for over 20 world concert tours, and has led the branding and marketing initiatives for 25 Grammy-nominated albums and 26 Platinum-selling albums certified by RIAA.
Some of Carlos’ most notorious designs have been exhibited in Madrid, Barcelona, Panama, Puerto Rico, Buenos Aires, Belgrade, Russia, Germany, New York, Miami and Los Angeles. In addition, he has also represented Puerto Rico at the Bienal Iberoamericana del Diseño in Madrid, one of the most prestigious design exhibits in Iberoamerica.
Carlos’ work has also been featured by Taschen Books, Time Magazine, Billboard Magazine, Brand Week, Creativity Magazine, Hispanic Business, How Magazine, Print, ID Magazine, .Net Magazine, People Magazine, Graphis and Communications Arts, among other prestigious publications.
The cultural influence of his work has been recognized by the Center of The Political Graphics in Los Angeles. Carlos is also a frequent speaker and lecturer at film/design education seminars, and has taught Visual Impact, Typography and Entertainment Design classes at the Miami Ad School.
"I think what makes powerful statements and penetrating images, whether it's for concert tours or a campaign, is the truth," Carlos contends. "If you're not afraid to express true desires, true emotions, you can connect with people. Otherwise, it's just eye-wash."
